Pre-Employment Psychological Assessments

Serving Edmonton and area with professional pre-employment psychological assessments for peace officers, first responders, military, and other safety-sensitive fields.

CONTACT FORM

At Kells Psychology, we conduct pre-employment psychological assessments for employers who require a deeper understanding of a candidate’s suitability for high-responsibility roles. With over 30 years of experience in psychological assessment, our team delivers thorough, reliable evaluations that support informed and ethical hiring decisions.

These assessments are used across a variety of high-responsibility fields, including peace officers, military personnel, emergency responders, and other safety-sensitive positions. All assessments are conducted or supervised by registered psychologists with specialized training in assessments.

We serve clients from Edmonton and area, including Leduc, Beaumont, Sherwood Park, and Nisku. Most assessments are held in-person in South Edmonton, but may be available virtually across Alberta. Contact us to learn more.

What Is a Pre-Employment Assessment?

A pre-employment psychological assessment uses validated, standardized tools to evaluate a candidate’s cognitive abilities, personality traits, and decision-making style. Employers use these assessments to build strong, effective teams in roles where judgement and reliability matter most.

Common Pre-Employment Tests

  • Cognitive Ability – Measure critical thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving.
  • Personality and Behaviour – Evaluate behavioural traits and how they align with the role’s demands.
  • Situational Judgement Tests (SJTs) – Assess decision-making in realistic hypothetical job scenarios.
  • Skills – Evaluate proficiency in specific, job-related tasks.
  • Integrity – Measure values, ethical standards, and consistency in high-pressure situations.

How to Prepare

  • Learn about the role so you know what skills may be highlighted.
  • Take practice tests for cognitive or aptitude assessments.
  • Rest well the night before your assessment.
  • Be honest in your responses. Assessments are designed to reflect who you are, and authentic answers lead to the most accurate results.
  • Remember, this process is about fit, not failure.
