About Our External Counselling Supervision Program 

Are you a Registered Provisional Psychologist completing counselling hours at another organization? Kells Psychology’s external supervision program provides the expert guidance and mentorship you need to build confidence, refine your counselling skills, and meet your registration requirements. 

Our supervisors bring decades of combined experience in trauma-trained care, evidence-based practice, and clinical excellence. We understand the challenges of early-career practice and are committed to supporting your growth as a skilled, ethical practitioner.

Our Supervision Services 

We provide a comprehensive suite of supervision services designed to meet CAP requirements and support your specific learning needs. All services are billed at our standard supervision rate. 

  • Individual Supervision: Weekly one-on-one sessions to review cases, develop skills, and address learning objectives. 
  • Group Supervision/Teaching: Opportunities for peer learning and case consultation in a group format (as available). 
  • Review of Reports & Documents: Detailed feedback on counselling and treatment reports, progress notes, and other clinical documentation. 
  • Crisis/Emergent Consultation: Responsive support for urgent clinical or ethical situations.

        Supervision Requirements & Investment 

        College of Alberta Psychologists Requirements 

        The College of Alberta Psychologists mandates that at least 25% of supervision must take place face-to-face at the location where you provide services. This ensures your supervisor has direct insight into your practice environment and can provide contextually relevant guidance. 

        As your supervisor, we require: 

        • A minimum of one supervision hour per week 
        • Full access to all clinical files and records 
        • Written consent from your employer for this access 
        • A formal supervision agreement outlining all roles and responsibilities

        Investment 

        Supervision Rate: $235/hour 

        Travel Costs (when applicable):  

        • Supervisor travel time: $235/hour (pro-rated) 
        • Mileage: $0.55/km round trip 
        • Parking: Actual costs 

        All supervision services, including individual sessions, report reviews, and consultations, are billed at the standard rate. Costs will be clearly outlined in your supervision contract.

        Getting Started 

        Ready to begin your external counselling supervision journey with Kells Psychology? 

        Step 1: Initial Consultation 

        Contact us to discuss your supervision needs, practice setting, and professional goals. We’ll help determine if Kells’ external supervision is the right fit for your registration journey. A free 20-minute consultation with your prospective supervisor will be scheduled to determine goodness of fit.  

        Step 2: Employer Consent & Agreement 

        We’ll work with you and your employer to establish the necessary agreements for clinical file access and supervision logistics. 

        Step 3: Supervision Begins  

        Once agreements are in place, we’ll schedule your first supervision session and establish a regular supervision schedule that supports your practice.
