The Kells Difference: Trauma-Trained, Not Just Trauma-Informed

Being trauma-informed means being knowledgeable and sensitive to those struggling with trauma. Being trauma-trained means knowing how to help somebody heal from trauma.

Unlike trauma-informed care, which primarily emphasizes awareness, our trauma-trained team brings a wealth of specialized knowledge that equips us to effectively treat trauma, not just recognize it. This approach ensures that each client receives comprehensive, personalized care tailored to their unique needs and experiences.

We provide in-person trauma-focused therapy and PTSD counselling to clients in Edmonton and area including Leduc, Beaumont, and Sherwood Park, as well as virtual care across Alberta via telehealth.

What This Means for Your Healing:

✓ 30+ Years of Specialized Expertise – Leading trauma counselling and treatment in Edmonton since 1992

✓ Advanced Training – Extensive education in EMDR, DBT, CBT, and Somatic Therapy

✓ Proven Results – Evidence-based approaches that actually work

✓ Safe Environment – Every aspect designed for trauma-sensitive care

✓ Whole-Person Healing – Addressing trauma’s impact on mind, body, and emotions

Our goal is to help you not just cope with trauma, but thrive beyond it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does trauma therapy take?

Everyone’s journey is unique. Some see significant improvement in 8-12 sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. You’re never locked into a specific timeline.

Will I have to tell my whole story?

No. We work at your comfort level. Some therapies like EMDR can process trauma without detailed verbal recounting.

Is it covered by insurance?

Most extended health benefits cover our services. We offer direct billing to make it easier.

What if I’m not ready for therapy?

That’s okay. Consider our trauma recovery groups or [educational workshops] as gentler starting points.
