Rates

At Kells Psychology in Edmonton, we strive to provide high-quality mental health services at reasonable rates. Our fees are based on the fee schedule recommended by the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta.

Counselling Rates

At Kells, we structure our counselling rates based on professional levels. This approach takes into account several factors including, certification/registration status, years of experience, and educational background

This system ensures that you receive care that aligns with your specific needs and budget, while also recognizing the varying levels of expertise among our professionals.

Note: EMDR and Couples Counselling are recommended to be 1.5 hours in length. Services provided by Mental Health Counsellors and Student Therapists are not covered by most health benefit plans. Kells Psychology does not direct bill for these services.

Registered Psychologists, Senior Professional

Registered Psychologists with extensive experience and specialized training who are equipped to supervise emerging professionals.

Rate: $235

Registered Psychologists

Fully licensed psychologists.

Rate: $235

Registered Provisional Psychologists

Psychologists completing supervised practice hours towards full registration.

Rate: $220

Canadian Certified Counsellors

Counsellors registered with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

Rate: $160

Mental Health Therapists

Professionals with relevant degrees and certifications in mental health fields.

Rate: $110

Practicum Therapists

Graduate students gaining supervised clinical experience.

Rate: $50, with your first three sessions free

Assessment Rates

Assessment TypeRateDescription

Forensic Assessments$350/hourFor assessments related to legal matters or potentially used in court proceedings.

Cancellation / Missed Appointment Policy

Kells maintains a 24-hour cancellation and missed appointment policy that is reviewed upon intake and signed in your initial session.

  • Cancellation with more than 24 Hours’ Notice: Acceptable with no charge.
  • Cancellation with less than 24 Hours’ Notice: 50% administrative fee per hour of booked time, barring an emergency or severe weather.
  • Missed Counselling Appointments: Full session cost for cancellations with less than one hour notice or no-shows.
  • Missed Assessment Appointments: Minimum of three hours of assessment service time billed for changes or cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice. Kells cannot direct bill any insurance company for missed appointments or late cancellation fees. The client is responsible for these charges.

Additional Information

Community Assistance Program

Discounted services may be available through organizations partnered with Kells. Contact our office for more information about potential assistance programs.

Payment Methods

Kells accepts Cash, Debit, MasterCard, and Visa. Payment must be received in full in advance of each appointment.

Insurance Coverage

Many of our services may be covered by your extended health benefits. We recommend checking with your insurance provider to understand your coverage. Kells Psychology offers direct billing to third-party funders.

Third Party Billing

In some cases, fees may be covered through a third party and billed directly (e.g., lawyers, Section B, churches, employers). Prior approval is required for this arrangement.

Section B Billing

For motor vehicle accident claims, private health benefits must be exhausted before Section B coverage can be accessed. After exhausting your health benefit spending, any portion not paid by your health benefit plan will be billed to your auto insurance through Section B.
