More About Alyssa

Alyssa completed her Master of Science in Counselling Psychology at the University of Calgary and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology – Applied Emphasis at Concordia University of Edmonton. Prior to registering as a psychologist, Alyssa worked with high-risk children and families in a variety of roles, including caregiver, interventionist, program developer, and researcher. Alyssa and her partner spent 10 years providing support in their own home to high-risk teens, and respite to families with children with a variety of mental health needs. Alyssa considers her greatest educational accomplishment to be her master’s thesis which looked at the impact of mentoring relationships on the resiliency of foster children. Her continuing studies are currently focused on learning disorders and ADHD. In therapy, Alyssa’s goal is to provide a safe place for clients to access their ability to grow and heal, and to enhance clients’ quality of life by increasing awareness and introducing new skills. When providing assessment services, Alyssa combines professional efficiency with kindness, compassion, and respect. Alyssa’s goal is to help increase awareness and provide relevant, helpful recommendations to assist clients in moving forward. Alyssa enjoys parenting her two children and adventuring in the outdoors.
