Janet’s comprehensive approach to psychology is uniquely informed by her diverse experience as a parent, foster parent, teacher, and school psychologist. This multifaceted background enables her to bring a uniquely practical perspective to both clinical practice and education. With over 40 years of learning and advocacy, Janet has developed extensive expertise and wellness strategies through her work with: Family Supports for Children with Disabilities, FCSS Mental Health Services, numerous School Boards, Alberta Children’s Services & Justice Systems, Child and Family Services, and Indigenous Nations. As CEO and Clinical Director of RAE Institute, Janet has spearheaded the development of the Master Clinician and Formal Clinical Assessment Programs. Her innovative teaching methodology combines humour and applied learning with evidence-based practice and critical thinking, preparing the next generation of psychologists for contemporary clinical challenges. Janet maintains active membership in several prestigious professional organizations, including the College of Alberta Psychologists, National Academy of Neuropsychology, Canadian Psychological Association, American Psychological Association – Law Society, and the Academy of Pediatric Neuropsychology. Janet was awarded the prestigious Dr. Myer Horowitz Book Award for 2024. This award, presented by the CASA Board of Directors, recognizes Janet’s 40-year dedication and outstanding contributions to child and adolescent mental health in Edmonton.
